“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27
With this message we end our series, Signs For The Time, Life Lessons That Can Be Learned From Ordinary Road Signs. We began our series with DEAD END. The text that we used was Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” People have their own ideas about what is right and good, but when we go our own way and ignore God’s Word, it leads to sorrow, regret, pain and death.
It seems fitting that we should end with this sign, ROAD ENDS.
What happens when we get to the end of the road? People of all backgrounds and all religions have pondered this question, and as the Bible says that “He hath put eternity in their hearts,” it seems all people everywhere believe that there is something still to come after we reach the end of the road. The Pharaohs looked beyond death and expected that there would be more to come in the great beyond. People have their own ideas about what comes next, but they are many and varied.
What does God’s Word say?
Our opening text makes it clear that it is appointed unto man once to die, and then after that comes judgement. After we die, we will be judged. To some, the righteous judge will say “Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord,” and to others He will say, “Depart from me, I never knew you.”
