A tourism entrepreneur’s seaside dream in Tanjung Batu, Pekan, has been swept away by relentless coastal erosion.

Edde Firdaus Abdul Aziz invested RM700,000 to acquire one hectare of land and built Kekunang Tering Chalet, featuring seven units including a tree house and tube cabins.

Within six years, waves claimed the structures one by one, leaving only 0.4 hectares of land and concrete culverts partially buried in sand.

Despite spending nearly half a million ringgit on premium materials and trying sandbag barriers, the retreat was destroyed in late 2022.

Edde Firdaus believes a nearby erosion‑control project may have accelerated damage, and warns the coming monsoon could wipe out what remains.
