Pakatan Harapan communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has confirmed that coalition election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari met with chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.

The high-level discussions come amid ongoing seat allocation talks between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional ahead of the Melaka state election.

Although Fahmi confirmed the meeting took place, he noted that he was not personally briefed on the specific matters discussed by the leaders.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously announced that the coalition's election committee, led by Amirudin alongside secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, would explore potential electoral cooperation with Barisan Nasional.

Saifuddin has also indicated a willingness to meet Melaka Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh to discuss formal cooperation.

Addressing Pakatan Harapan's strategy following the recent PKR congress, Fahmi explained that the coalition aims to consolidate its core strength whilst reaching out to former leaders and influential figures.
