Riding the Class 230 battery-electric train which set a new world record for travelling 200 miles on one charge of its batteries. The ride that I filmed is whilst travelling on a quiet suburban branch line between West Ealing and Greenford stations in west London
This is a former London Transport / Underground D78 stock District line train, and it uses a new design of fast top-up battery charging which was specially developed for trains.
This film also looks at most of the other uses of these former subsurface Underground trains - including in the USA - and some other of the types of British rolling stock which is capable of travelling in battery-electric mode.
