Hey ho, here I am for Valentine's Day with a new "own" shipping(?) video edit!
One that isn't even supposed to be romantic and instead turned out creepy and critcal, coming from me being the cynical and lonely single that I am :)
The WIP of this video was actually already a few months old and I just kinda randomly opened it when I didn't have any MEP parts to do (which was wasn't long of course lol). I kept coming back to it and had already decided that I wanted to use it for practicing editing lyrics. My motivations were a few PMVs I watched that were using this song plus the well-known "Reylo-Debate" - I'll get to that...
So basically I really wanted this video edit to have lyrics, no or very little use of transitions (sharp clip changes if you will) and a black-and-white filter to help bringing out the song's creepy and uneasy feeling. I did end up using a few black transitions where the "sentence" would end (I'm too tired to look up what it's called in a song but ya know what I mean) so that it all looks a bit softer. Th lyrics were sort of a pain to do after a while but I wanted to have one lyric-video-edit SO BAD! The font I used first was Times New Roman btw which got changed to something called "Permanent Marker" 'cause the first one wasn't working for me in the end... it kinda looked "too formal"? Idk how to explain it.
Soooo the whole video's point was that I thought it would be cool to use doing an "explorarion" of one of my favorite ships, aka Reylo. There is of course that huge debate on the Internet whether shipping Rey and Kylo Ren is abusive or not and tbh, I'm obviously in a grey area with this, personally (no pun intended). Rationally and psychologically speaking I agree that their relationship is abusive and I am very well aware that the pairing is sort of screwed up. But I also like their relationship and overall dynamic so much that, as a fictional ship, I see no problem in liking it and honestly, the wars between the Reylos and the Antis annoy me. One is aggressively outraged and going bonkers over it, the other is ignoring plot points and keeps changing their mind over the characters. I'm a sucker for AUs and examining/exploring different sides of something, so sometimes I'm focusing on their lovey-dovey moments, sometimes I like to see the tragic side and now I'm going in for the dark and critical stuff.
The video's "plot" is supposed to be - like I said - more on a critical but greyish side with their relationship, which made following the lyrics rather easy. Rey and Kylo Ren are equally powerful AND feeling equally lonely while being on opposite sides of a war. Starting out as enemies they are "the legacy and the no-one" but Kylo develops this obsessive, creepy interest in Rey after finding out how similar she is to him. Rey keeps being hostile until her naively-good side and her longing for family and understanding begins showing. I'd like to add that I believe that Kylo genuinely feels understood and safe with Rey (in contrast to his family and Snoke) but when having Rey by his side is on the line he keeps relapsing into his manipulative and hateful behaviour out of desperation. Rey is - of course - hurt and doesn't wanna join him after realizing this but looking at their faces at the end of TLJ I'm convinced they don't hate eachother for it. Well, despite regulary engaging in deadly fights where each time one of them is almost killed by the other lol. In the end, the sorta both experience death but Rey surives, disappointed and heartbroken, while Kylo Ren just vanishes, forgotten and not missed by anyone but Rey. Thinking of how they were both abandoned and abused, their story is pretty sad and tragic. And while Rey "just" goes on emotional rollercoaster trying to find her family, Kylo wants to get away from his and develops into an "abused abuser", which is ultimately the pairing's downfall.
As for the video edit itself... it turned out ok. The clips I chose were kinda simple and the time words appear is a little short but I can't change it and it's alright. This time I didn't check every little detail for hours on end for the sake of my own sanity :D

Uhh yeah, I'll move on to the MEP parts still gotta do and then I'll see. I don't keep my vid-promises but there will always be stuff! I'm ok and happy I got this edit done! Kylo Ren is my Valentine's sweetie and I'm running outta the max amount of letters YT allows me to type lol bye!
