Ohhh the upcoming Valentine's Day MEP's are a perfect opportunity to show y'all one of my absolute favorite ships: Walter and Misty! I binged Yellowjackets last year after finding out that Elijah Wood is in it and man, it's one of the BEST SHOWS EVER OMG! I love these two and for some extra cuteness I added footage from The Ice Storm, where Elijah Wood and Christina Ricci acted side by side as a teen couple(?) in order to turn it into an AU where the two re-connect as adults after realizing they still have feelings for eachother... Oh man, getting a bit more creative like this is super fun!^^
I intended to pick the part of the MEP most suitable for my former-lovers-AU (" (...) untrue, and people search for a wonder like you all of their lives, you still amaze me after all this time"). The "untrue" is something I didn't notice at first, but it did end up suiting the "people search" where Misty is in disbelief at spotting her former boyfriend at her job, who is getting a nice lip-synch with "wonder like you" (and a flattered Misty), happy about seeing her again. Some more cute flashbacks, a clip about how they sleep apart but still belong together. Now we have a distraught Misty (who um... just accidentally killed her friend lol) getting hugged by the happy-go-lucky Walter 'cause I thought the lyrics said "love" instead of "amaze" XD. But still, I interpret it as Misty's thoughts about him and that he's postive and empathetic (and a good choice for a boyfriend). Even more cute flashbacks where they were a bit more wild with the kissing and a comparison to the now shy adults. And the very last scene is basically a more stylized version of them confession their love to eachother.
For some dreamy vibes I only used simple blending transitions and a 70s retro filter for the flashback scenes to mark them as... well, flashbacks lol but then I realized that when The Ice Storm takes place in the 1970s, Yellowjackets can't take place in the 2020s lololol so just take it as a general retro aesthetic. I wanted to add some pink for a romantic vibe too but all scenes plus the other filter would've been too much so I just added it to the very last clips with the love confession since it already features a bright pink heart and ohhh I really like how my first Misty x Walter AU shipping video turned out!
