As we are witnessing the onset of what is called a super El Niño, I am revisiting a devastating series of El Niño-induced droughts/famines in India, Northern China and Northeastern Brazil between 1876 and 1902 as a captured brilliantly by the late author Mike Davis in his seminal book ‘Late Victorian Holocausts : El Niño Famines and Making of the Third World’.

I suggest you read it with the caveat that it is quite disturbing.
