In this video I demonstrate how I built a custom extension arm for supporting a camera or smartphone on my tripod. I like filming YouTube tutorial videos and this arm was designed to help me get the camera closer to things for filming close up shots. By adding a tripod swivel head to the end of the beam, I can also use this retractable arm for filming overhead shots.
This project was thrown together quickly using scrap materials that I already had at home, and there are definitely improvements that could be made to the design.
