Irpin is one of the cities where post-occupation reconstruction has become a multi-stakeholder process. Residents of an apartment building are repairing roofs damaged by shelling and replacing windows in their apartments themselves. Foreign partners are restoring some socially important facilities. The Ukrainian government has initiated the construction of a critical bridge over the Irpin River next to the one that was destroyed. Ukrainian experts have developed a digital platform, DREAM, where affected communities and interested donors can connect and build transparent cooperation.
In this episode of the Restoration multimedia project, we discuss the state digital platform for raising funds for reconstruction, the activities of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure, particularly the reconstruction and memorialisation of the Romanivskyi Bridge. We also cover the Ruta kindergarten, which Lithuania has committed to restoring, and the vision of Irpin architect Oleh Hrechukh on the future development of his city.
