Kharkiv and nearby settlements have suffered significant losses from the constant shelling by the Russian occupiers. Residential buildings, educational institutions, architectural monuments, and more have been affected. The repair of damaged buildings is often delayed due to bureaucratic issues and a lack of resources. However, local residents are not only beginning to restore their own homes but are also taking on the task of preserving the architectural heritage by developing reconstruction projects and protecting monuments damaged by the shelling.
In this video, we share the stories of organisations and initiatives working to restore Kharkiv and nearby settlements — such as the Kharkiv branch of the Heritage Rescue Headquarters, the Karazin University Charitable Foundation, Building Ukraine Together, and Left Bank. We also highlight the dedicated residents and entrepreneurs who, despite the significant destruction, are returning to their hometowns and villages to work and contribute to their reconstruction💚
