The fact Capcom's incredible Resident Evil released in 1996, more than 26 years ago, is absolutely mind boggling.

Not only did Resident Evil popularise the survival horror genre and introduce the series formula still used to this day, but it did so when 3D gaming was very much in its infancy.

Resident Evil is a brutal, terrifying and often cheesy experience, and its impact on the gaming landscape cannot be understated.
