Step by Step!
Today we'll be working on a John Deere D170 that came into the shop because it made a clicking noise when turning the steering wheel.
To fix this issue, we'll be replacing the steering sector plate and pinion gear, as well as installing some new hardware that was originally missing.
Since some of these parts are not included in the Steering Sector Pinion Gear Rebuild Kits, I had to source these parts through John Deere.
In the video I show you how to properly source parts for your specific model, by entering the serial number on John Deere's website.
You may have to remove/lower the bracket that the sector plate bolts too by removing the 4 self tapping screws if you have bigger arms/hands, but I found that was not necessary for me, as I was able to slide a wrench in there with ease.
FYI, these 100 series mowers can come with 2 different sector plates from the factory, either a 19 tooth with 2 drag links, or the 25 took plate that has 1 drag link on the left side.

Today well be replacing a carburetor on a 10hp Briggs and Stratton engine.
Model: 256707-0109-01
The reason Ill be replacing the carb, instead of rebuilding it with a kit, is because the old carburetor is in rough shape & it will be easier & quicker for me to replace it.

Aftermartker Carb: 491590 ($78 CDN)
In Part 1, we focus on modifying the Aftermarket carb to work on our application.
