So this is the only track I provided for Sewerlust that I didn't write specifically for the WAD, although it does make its official debut here.
This track I actually wrote in winter of 2025, I want to say around January or February. This was another early attempt by me at experimenting with time signatures other than 4/4, which I didn't have a lot of practice with. I set Sekaiju for 7/8, although novaseer has commented that he thinks it sounds more like 7/4. Honestly, I can't tell the difference.
This version is slightly reworked from the original I had composed, simplifying a few passages throughout the song or making them sound better. I had actually included the original version of this song in my repository file, so that now includes both versions for archival purposes.
Muumi had used a placeholder for this map, but when it was suggested to add a custom song, this one stuck out to me as appropriate and so I suggested it which he agreed to. I think it matches the map very well, evoking a kind of wearied determinism appropriate for a WAD that's just featured over 10 levels of long slaughter maps as you plunge further and further into an unknowable abyss. The sewer has ceased to be anything that makes sense, it's nothing but darkness, expansive and impossible architecture, and an endless deluge of monsters. I think it's also restrained enough energy-wise that it holds up to the 1.5-2 hour playtime it will take most players to complete the map blind.
