Remote ID FAA Drone Labels
In this video I will discuss the FAA requirement to have labels on drones that show compliance with the upcoming remote ID (identification) rules for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), including both drones and RC model aircraft.
All drones manufactured after Dec 22, 2022 need to be compliant with remote ID rules from the FAA. This will include a sticker, in English, affixed to the drone. This sticker requirement applies also to remote ID modules. All RC modelers need to be compliant with remote ID requirements by Sept 16, 2023.
Here is an April 12, 2023 note I received from the FAA UAS Support Center discussing the regulations on drone remote ID labels:

14 CFR Part 89 is the remote ID rule. Provision § 89.525 states:
"(a) No person may produce a standard remote identification unmanned aircraft under § 89.515 unless it displays a label indicating that the unmanned aircraft meets the requirements of this part. The label must be in English and be legible, prominent, and permanently affixed to the unmanned aircraft.
(b) No person may produce a remote identification broadcast module under § 89.520 unless it displays a label indicating that the equipment meets the requirements of this part. The label must be in English and be legible, prominent, and permanently affixed to the broadcast module."
There are still aircraft "on the shelf" that do not comply with Part 89. After 16 Sep 2023 those aircraft must either be equipped with an FAA-approved broadcast module or must be operated with the geographic boundaries of an FAA-Recognized Identification Area.
