Two and a half years later and the remastered compilations are finally here! Vol 1 has all of my Nintendo covers with 49 tracks and Vol 2 has all of my non-Nintendo covers (and 4 originals) with 51 tracks, which totals 100 tracks across both volumes!
Three previously unreleased songs finally made it onto streaming services!
Title (Puzzle Swap) from StreetPass Mii Plaza
Graveyard Duskull from Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire
Elfilin from Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Bonus: Piano Solo version of Dearly Beloved (ensemble version but it's just the piano part)
As stated in my 2K subscriber Q&A video, all of the songs from 2021 (prior to 12 Days of VGM) have had the glockenspiel, xylophone, and vibraphone parts re-recorded on my newer instruments. After making that video, I set two additional goals for these compilation albums: everything mixed in GarageBand has been re-mixed in Logic and everything released through April 2023 has been remastered. Before Quiet Autumn (released May 2023) I was just releasing final mixes without mastering songs, mostly because I just didn't know how to, so volume levels were all over the place; now these songs have been mastered to match the volume levels of my newer releases.
I will be releasing a smaller Vol. 3 in early 2026, which will include a few more Nintendo covers and everything else from 2025. I'd originally planned on finishing this project in August to release late September, but I ended up going into speedrun mode to meet the July 31st deadline before my distributor increased their prices (which I support! just bad timing for this project). I literally finished the last four songs the morning of the 31st before spending the rest of the day getting everything uploaded and submitted; I was absolutely pushing my luck to get all 100 tracks in haha. Nintendo regularly updates their music app and there's a good chance something I've previously covered that currently can't be licensed might be licensable by the end of the year, so ultimately I think it's worth it to wait until early 2026 to release the final 10 tracks I didn't finish in time.
Aside from those few tracks, there are a handful of other songs I didn't include in these compilations for a variety of reasons:
Didn't include songs from charity albums (with one exception that I specifically got permission for)
Didn't include songs from Deep in the Mines, Welcome Home, or Superstars on the Horizon
Didn't include songs that I wasn't the only primary arranger for (with a couple exceptions where my father was the co-arranger)
Didn't include songs that I would've had to re-record from scratch
Didn't include songs that are not licensable
Tbh I lost the project file for Spooktune/Spookwave oops - if this had to happen to any song, I'm honestly glad it was this one (since it's literally just a melody) and guess that's what I get for TAKING TOO LONG
If you're looking for a specific song that is missing from the list above, then feel free to ask about it and I'll let you know why it isn't here. If enough people ask then I'll consider putting together a full list, but honestly it's kind of a hot mess and it's probably just easier if you ask lol
Special thanks to Maria-Francesca for making both album covers! I thought the Kirby Melee menu would be perfect for the Nintendo album since every game covered has something represented in Smash. Napstablook makes sense for Vol. 2 since half of it is UT/DR and I love his Chill background. I like to think he is listening to Stardew music.
I've been working on these remasters for so long and it feels so nice to finally release them! Sure I have a few more left to work on throughout the remainder of the year (at my own pace), but it's still refreshing to stop sitting on all the ones that are done - and the best part is that I finally get to share them with all of you! I hope you enjoy re-experiencing all 100 songs in their final fully-evolved forms!
