Work continues on our Remaking Beamish project!
In this update, Nick Butterley, Remaking Beamish Project Co-ordinator takes us on a tour of the 1950s Town construction site - featuring the Community Centre's foundations. Shaun Kay, Buildings Team Leader (Joinery) shows us the work so far on the Community Centre's windows and doors which are being manufactured in-house at the museum's workshops. Paul Marron, Buildings Team Leader (Masonry) provides an update on the construction of Joe the Quilter's cottage, with Matt Bedard, Joiner, describing how the cottage's timber cruck roof frame has been made.
Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the project has been awarded £10.9m by the Heritage Lottery Fun (HLF).
