Work is moving quickly on the construction of Joe the Quilter's cottage in our 1820s landscape. The masonry work is nearly complete and the heather thatch roof is currently being fitted.
The replica of Leasingthorne Colliery Welfare Hall and Community Centre within our 1950s Town construction site is beginning to look increasingly like a completed building structure with the timber cladding now fitted and roof starting to be applied.
Nick Butterley, Remaking Beamish Project Co-ordinator takes us on a tour of the 1950s Town and 1820s developments.
Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the project has been awarded £10.9m by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
