Relational Psycho-Educational Intensive: Time Away for Post-Cult Counseling (Gillie Jenkinson)
Presentation at the International Cultic Studies Association annual conference in Dallas, Texas on July 1, 2016. Gillie Jenkinson of Hope Valley Counselling describes the therapeutic approach she has developed for working with former members of cults, spiritual abuse, coercive control, and other high demand situations.
Update: Since presenting her Post-Cult Counselling model at the Dallas Conference, Gillie has developed a ‘Recovery Workbook’ with the handouts mentioned (and more) in one place and is currently writing it up into a publishable book. She has trained 8 former member therapists in UK to use the Recovery Workbook on a ‘Certificate in Post-Cult Counselling’. These therapists are being mentored, coached, and supervised by Gillie as they also use the Recovery Workbook with clients. She plans to deliver another Certificate in Post-Cult Counselling in late 2021 or 2022 (depending on covid) and it is already oversubscribed!!
