Abstract: Collective Narcissism is the belief that one’s group is exceptional but not sufficiently recognized by others. It is a form of in-group love that is focused on an idealized self-image and feels threatened by a hated out-group. It can be assessed through four factors: Arrogance, admiration, entitlement and exploitation, and apathy towards others. This presentation will provide an overview of Collective Narcissism and its components. It will show examples of how Collective Narcissism manifests among Jehovah’s Witnesses, and invite the audience to discuss manifestations of Collective Narcissism in cultic groups and its usefulness in analyzing and describing them.
