LANSING, Ill. (May 28, 2021) – This is the first weekly video The Lansing Journal published when we started using YouTube as a way to connect with people. Because we didn't have our own channel at the time, this video was published on a different channel, and we only recently rediscovered it. We are moving it to @lansingjournal in order to preserve our history and complete the series.
Josh Bootsma was the Managing Editor at the time, and he and Publisher Melanie Jongsma discussed the news of the week, a format they continued for several months before branching out into other video coverage ideas. The questionable politics of Thornton Township Supervisors Tiffany Henyard and now Napoleon Harris brought new viewers and subscribers to our channel, and we appreciate their interest in our local politics. But most of the news that happens in Lansing and other parts of Thornton Township is much less dramatic, though just as important.
