Red Rock Canyon is a popular outdoor recreational area just west of Las Vegas, Nevada and is well known for the endless rock climbing/scrambling opportunities it offers. These two hikes have quite the opposite characters. While Calico Tanks has vibrant red-colored rock formations and is family friendly (thus often crowded), Ice Box Canyon appears to be cold and gray, and is suitable for more experienced hikers due to challenging terrain that requires rock hopping and bushwhacking. Both are excellent hikes to get a taste of what this area has to offer
