Playthrough with Mai. The Neo Geo CD port of this game features a new "original" mode, which is what I've done a playthrough of. In original mode, you will have random CPU challengers fight you, like at 7:19. They have unique art and dialogue, unfortunately I got the same challenger twice in this run.
As for the port itself, the load times are disappointingly long in this one. I wish you could permanently unlock Geese, but as far as I know it's not possible. This version also features a music video called "Blue Mary's Blues". It's fine the first time you see it but it's also unskippable, so you have to watch it every time you beat the game.
I think the Real Bout Special version of Mai is my favorite version of her, mainly because she has a rekka chain. I think she only has this move in this game, it got removed from the next game and was never in any of the KoFs. The only issue I have with her is that I think her potential power move isn't very good, the CPU will usually hit her out of it. This move got completely changed to something much better for Real Bout 2.
