In this C. Vision YouTube exclusive, we visit northwest Nebraska in June of 2020 to follow Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern train LDJRC on its northward trek from Dakota Junction, Nebraska, towards Rapid City along RCPE's Black Hills Subdivision. Engineer Matt Spika puts on a great show as his two SD40-2s, RCPE 3424 and RCPE 3446, claw up the century-old 72-pound rail on the 1.3% grade into Wayside, with the Pine Ridge featured as a distant backdrop. From there, we follow the train into South Dakota as darkness falls. Locations include Wayside, NE, Oelrichs, SD, and Smithwick, SD. Thanks again, Matt!
