June 25, 1876...Major Marcus Reno crosses the Little Bighorn River hoping to surprise the large Indian encampment in the Valley while Custer moves on north up on the bluffs. NPS Ranger Cliff Nelson tells us about the first actions at the Garryowen Loop in the valley where Reno attempted to attack the Indian village only to have to make a hasty retreat back across the river to fight with Captain Frederick Benteen for two whole days.
