The Sextet was completed in 2012 and was dedicated to the composer's (now ex-) fiancée. This is the third of six movements, each of which relates to the topography or archaeology of Mt. Lowe in the Angeles National Forest: The White City, Castle Canyon, Mt. Lowe Observatory, The Cape of Good Hope, Granite Gate, and Alpine Tavern.
