A tune writtren by Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 1969 for the movie, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." Vocal artist, B.J. Thomas recorded it and it was a huge hit in 1970.
In this video I demonstrate how I play it as a finger picking guitar solo and then break it down by showing you the various chords used in the song. I hope you find it helpful.
In 1970 I was six years old, but by age eight or nine I remember really liking this song. While swinging on my swing set in my backyard of 337 La Harpe St. ,La Salle Illinois, I would sing this song loudly and enjoying one of them blissful childhood memories when music was beginning to inspire me. I often wonder what the nieghbors thought about me always singing loudly on my swing set.
After all these years I am still playing this song. I have loved taking pop standards and turning them into solos. It's a style that developed from my study of Classical guitar, Chet Atkins and Leo Kottke .
