ABOUT THE WORK
John Williams (b. 1932) is undoubtedly the most prolific film composer alive today, currently holding 51 Academy Award nominations for original songs and scores, and 20 Grammy Awards. He is responsible for the timeless scores of Harry Potter, Star Wars, ET, Indiana Jones, and many others. Raiders March contains the theme music for the Indiana Jones movie series, spanning 5 films from Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 to the Dial of Destiny this year. This music first appears in Raiders of the Lost Ark, a film following the adventures of the explorer Indiana Jones who finds himself racing against Nazi Germany to locate the lost Ark of the Covenant before they use it to take over the world. This piece is broken into three distinct sections: Indiana Jones’ adventure theme, the theme of his lover Marion, and finally a return to a more intense and victorious version of the original theme.
