The drag and drive trailer took some damage at last year's MegaWeek — cracked aluminum on the drag radial mount from a bad setup. Time to fix it right before Rocky Mountain Raceweek!
In this video I'm repairing the cracked aluminum diamond plate on the drag radial tire mount using my Primeweld TIG225x, then switching over to the YesWelder MIG205-DS Pro to add a new steel bracket to the fuel can rack. Spoiler: TIG welding old diamond plate is NOT as easy as it sounds. After getting all the cracks welded up I completely redesigned the tire mount system with additional bracing and 12 bolts + sandwich plates instead of the original 4 — no more cracking. Also, real quick — the Chevelle took a 70+ mile cruise the day before and ran flawlessly... then had a random part failure the second we pulled into the driveway. Classic. Quick fix, but wild timing right before raceweek.
