On 6 August at Northam, WA, 5yo Talk of Thrones suffered an exercise-induced bilateral bleeding episode, meaning that blood from his lungs were bursting out from both his nostrils. The severity of the lung bleed caused him to collapse flat on the track.
Shockingly, after such a horrific near-death episode, the stewards noted they were happy for Talk of Thrones to continue being raced after a break and a race trial.
However, it is also noted that Talk of Thrones’ trainer said he would be retired from racing but so far, 11 days later, he is still listed as “active” on his record.
We sincerely hope the trainer will stick to his words, and that Talk of Thrones will be one of the very lucky ones to find a genuine, safe retirement home. He should never have been put in this situation in the first place. #horseracingkills #youbettheydie #nuptpthecup
