It read, "Chromosomal studies have shown that rabbis around the world carry specific genetic traits that link them to a common ancestry. Test results suggest that their roots trace back to the priesthood of Aaron." The Reuters news report was electrifying at the time. Some groups claimed then and now that today's Jews are not Jews at all, but are from a tribe of Khazars who lived north of the Black Sea in the middle ages. This scientific discovery of genetic ancestry would seem to prove that the Jews really are Jews.
Medical science has recently shown that Jewish rabbis contain the same Y chromosome - no matter where they live - Russia, Eastern Europe, Spain, Africa or India. The single Y chromosome is passed along by the father, meaning that thousands of years ago, before the Jews were scattered around the world in divine judgment, all rabbis whose name is a derivative of Levi (the tribe) or Cohen (Hebrew for Priest) were given this chromosome by a single father. This would seemingly prove that the Jews really are who they say they are.
