In part 4 of our rail fanning road trip , we head to the Eastern Portal of Ardglen Tunnel to see loaded and empty coal trains pass through the deep cutting. Then , we head over the hill to the Western side to see a loaded train and watch as the manned helpers detach on the fly! Years ago , if you were lucky , you could catch the uncoupling in front of you at the grade crossing, but newer, longer trains and operating guidelines have made that very rare these days!
