I'm delighted to bring my friendly colleague Dr. Joe Marchal to Story Time! this week. He is the first scholar in my field that I connected with, nearly 2 decades ago, who was doing similar work to what I had hoped to do. I can't wait to hear more about his journey that led him to doing such important work. I think many of you will appreciate both what he has been through, and on some days is thriving in spite of, and thus the work he is doing in light of it all, work to try to make the world a better place countering the pervasive and harmful scripts and ideas around sexuality and physicality that are at work in our cultures and communities. And to top it all off, Paul is his main focus in biblical texts! What's not to love there?
