The Atari Lunar Lander is one of the most important arcade games ever made and now itโs back in stunning form with the Quarter Arcades 1/4-scale Lunar Lander. In this review, I take a deep dive into the history, gameplay, controls, and authenticity of this fully playable miniature arcade cabinet.
We start with the Moon Race era, from JFKโs famous speech to the Apollo moon landing, and connect that moment in history to Atariโs 1979 Lunar Lander, a physics-based vector arcade game inspired by real NASA simulations. Then we break down how Quarter Arcades recreated this classic with incredible attention to detail, from the cabinet proportions and vector-style display to the precise thrust and rotation controls.
I also compare the cabinet artwork to my original Lunar Lander arcade manual, show the pre-order bonus (a miniature framed Lunar Lander poster with its own light), and explain who this cabinet is really for, collectors, Atari fans, and arcade historians.
