Create a beautiful South American style edging! Used on my Andean Vest.

The four stitch balanced decrease is worked by repeating the following actions twice:
Pick up second stitch on right-hand needle, pass it over the first stitch, k1 from left hand needle, slip two stitches to the left-hand needle, pick up second stitch and pass it over the first stitch on left-hand needle, slip this remaining stitch to the right-hand needle.

With Col A, and ribbing size needles, cast on (gently) a multiple of 13 stitches. 52 stitches.

Rnd 1 With Col B, knit.
Rnd 2 With Col B, purl.

Rnd 3 With Col C, K7, [make a four stitch balanced decrease, k11] repeat , final repeat ends k4. 36 stitches
Rnd 4 With Col C, purl.

Rnd 5 With Col D, make four stitch balanced decrease, k5, [k7, make four stitch balanced decrease ] repeat, end k2. 20 stitches
Rnd 6 With Col D, purl.
This leaves you with 5 stitches for every multiple of 13 you started with.

Rnd 7 Increase round. (K1, O), repeat. 40 stitches
Rnd 8 Purl. An increase in needle size at this point may be necessary to stop the Puntas from flaring.
