Originally written in October 2025 and now reimagined with a brand-new Producer's Mix, "Words Can Do Harm" explores the emotional scars left by a relationship where communication becomes a weapon instead of a bridge.
Some songs deserve a second chance.
Although this version of "Words Can Do Harm" was never officially released, its musical foundation always stood out. For this Producer's Mix, I revisited the original recording with fresh ears, refining the arrangement, updating the lyrics and creating a new mix that better captures the emotion at the heart of the song.
Built around an arpeggiated synth bass, vintage drum machine rhythms and layered atmospheric synthesizers, the song blends melancholic synthpop with darkwave textures while telling the story of a relationship where harsh words slowly erode trust, hope and love. Even as the narrator recognizes the damage being done, the desire for reconciliation never completely disappears.
This Producer's Mix is part of an ongoing series in which I revisit earlier Pulse Empire recordings, applying the production, mixing and mastering techniques I've developed over time to breathe new life into songs from the project's early years.
I did re-tool the lyrics for this song and re-recorded it as "Words Can Do Harm (The Harmful Remix)" which did get a shadow producer's remix a few weeks ago.
