Released in 1983, the track captures Cabaret Voltaire at a turning point — moving from abrasive tape experiments into darker, groove-driven electronic territory. Originally appearing on The Crackdown, “24-24” combines funk-inspired basslines, fractured electronics, processed vocals, and relentless percussion into something both danceable and unsettling. The Sheffield group’s use of sampling, tape manipulation, and mechanical rhythms would become hugely influential on later industrial, EBM, techno, and electronic artists throughout the 1980s and beyond.
