PRESS CONFERENCE: K9 Deputy Alan Lee and RN Amy Somwaru
On Friday afternoon, MCSO K9 Deputy Alan Lee and RN Amy Somwaru spoke to the media about their teamwork in saving a man's life on Tuesday. Here's more information on the incident:
CITIZENS AND MCSO K9 DEPUTY WORK TOGETHER TO SAVE MAN'S LIFE
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, a 42-year old male driver experienced a medical emergency while his vehicle was stationary at the intersection of West Highway 40 and NW 27th Avenue. Several other drivers, to include off-duty Munroe Regional Medical Center RN Amy Somwaru, saw what was going on and stopped to help him. MCSO K9 Deputy Alan Lee was also driving down the road and saw RN Somwaru giving the patient CPR and stopped to help. K9 Deputy Lee and RN Somwaru worked together to give the patient CPR until Ocala and Marion County Fire Rescue arrived. Upon receiving further medical attention from paramedics, the patient regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital. The patient went on to make a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital Thursday morning!
It is believed that because of the quick intervention of vigilant citizens, off-duty RN Amy Somwaru, MCSO K9 Deputy Alan Lee and Ocala and Marion County Fire Rescue, that the patient is alive today. Thank you to everyone for your heroic actions that saved a life!
