Franz von Holzhausen’s personal Tesla Model S Plaid Signature #001 came to our AutoSpa in Hawthorne, California, for a complete XPEL paint protection film, ceramic coating, and window tint package.
Chassis #001 is the first of only 250 Model S Plaid Signature vehicles created for the final production run. As the personal car of Franz von Holzhausen, the designer responsible for shaping the Model S from its earliest development through its final evolution, this example represents a uniquely important chapter in Tesla and automotive history.
Preserving a car like this requires more than installing premium materials. The quality of the finished result depends on the preparation, precision, installation strategy, and inspection standards behind every layer. For this project, the UP AutoSpa team created a complete protection system designed to preserve the factory finish while allowing the car to remain usable, maintainable, and true to Franz’s original design.
The package combines full-body XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS paint protection film, a complete ceramic coating, and XPEL PRIME XR PLUS window film. Together, these services help defend the Model S against rock chips, light scratches, road debris, environmental contamination, ultraviolet exposure, and cabin heat without changing the character of the vehicle.
The project also continues a relationship between Franz and Unplugged Performance that began with his personal Tesla Model 3. That car received an extensive collection of UP performance upgrades focused on suspension, handling, chassis response, and braking. Years later, Franz returned with Model S Plaid Signature #001 and a different objective: long-term preservation.
