Discovered in 2022 during an epic biodiversity mission by #RVInvestigator off WA’s coast, this little legend has just been formally described and named.
It’s small (only 19 centimetres long!), flattens like a pancake (hence “flapjack”), doesn’t do colour changes and lives on the seafloor way down deep at 1000–1500 metres below the surface.
