In this video, I take a first look at the PowerFilm F16-3600L 60-watt foldable solar panel and compare it with my smaller PowerFilm S16-1200 20-watt panel. I examine the size, weight, laminated construction, flexibility, wind resistance, and portability of the new panel. I also discuss the SAE two-pin connector included with the panel, the problems caused by inconsistent connector polarity, and why I plan to replace it with a Delphi connector that matches my existing solar equipment.
The video covers my experience with several PowerFilm panels, their performance under partial shade, and how I plan to use the 60-watt panel to charge a battery for portable ham radio operation. I also explain how it will complement my larger 135-watt panel, which I use to maintain a 30-amp-hour battery for a portable refrigerator and other equipment.
