In this video, I test the PowerFilm F16-1200 foldable solar panel on a cloudy day while charging a 12-volt LiFePO4 battery. I measure the voltage and amperage produced by the panel and examine how an MPPT charge controller converts available voltage into additional charging current. I also compare the performance of the Genasun GV-10 and the Buddipole PowerMini to see how much current each controller delivers to the battery under changing cloud conditions.
The test includes proper connection and disconnection procedures, observations about possible radio-frequency noise, and a discussion of how this compact solar setup could be used for QRP ham radio, portable operations, battery maintenance, and emergency communications.
