In this video, I unbox the Canon EOS R5 Mark II with the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM kit lens and take a detailed first look at what Canon includes in the box. We look at the LP-E6P battery, battery charger, USB-C cable, camera strap, lens hood, lens pouch, cable protector, camera body, and RF 24-105mm F4 L lens.
I take a closer look at the R5 Mark II body, including the articulated screen, viewfinder, joystick, controls, microphone and headphone connections, USB-C port, full-size HDMI connection, memory card area, and the cable-management system designed to protect connected cables.
I also examine the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens, including its image stabilization, autofocus and manual focus controls, zoom range, control ring, and 77mm filter size.
Toward the end, I compare the R5 Mark II with my older Canon 5D Mark II. It is interesting to see how much Canon's professional camera design has changed while still retaining familiar controls and design ideas. The 5D Mark II played a major role in opening high-quality digital filmmaking to independent filmmakers, so putting these two cameras side by side provides an interesting look at how Canon has evolved from DSLR filmmaking to modern mirrorless cameras.
