This is very likely the first "Bike Move" ever captured, edited and broadcast in the world! When I visited Portland, OR to see friends and was running the NYC cable-access show "bikeTV" I knew there would be cool bicycling to see. I had been there once before and knew Portland was cool and more bike-friendly than anywhere I had ever ridden (except maybe Montreal).
When I got there a few friends of mine were part of a group called SHIFT. I found out while on the street there was gonna be something called a "bike move" and I asked if them if I could film it. And I was so glad I did. It was an enormously great time. And looking back at the folks in this video, so so many of them are still big time players in Portland's bike scene and responsible for making the city what it is today.
I want to say the reason I am posting this is because a good bicycling soul named Aaron Tarfman in the Portland area took his life a few days ago. And I remembered he is featured a few times here as he had been in many of my bikeTV films when he lived in New York City. Aaron was very dedicated to being a good guy and living honestly and not harming the Earth. If we had millions like him, the world would be a better place. Rest, Aaron wherever you may be now.
