The Porsche Taycan is Porsche's first series production electric car. Widely acclaimed by those in the know as the world’s best electric car, it also stays true to the features that have always characterised Porsche: pure emotion and maximum driving pleasure.
The Taycan is seriously handsome from whatever angle you look at it. And it feels like a true Porsche: the driving position is low slung and straight and the pedals and steering are medium-weighted. As with all Porsches, it has that glorious trait of giving back exactly what you put in – turn the wheel and it responds crisply and accurately, push the throttle or the brakes and it goes and stops as much as it ought. This is what marks out the very best driver’s cars and something that has thus far eluded electric cars. But Porsche have nailed it here.
What makes the Taycan so utterly compelling is that, once you've finished marvelling at what it can do on the road, it becomes perfectly usable everyday transport. There's plenty of space up front even if you are blessed in the height department, and two average-sized adults will find few complaints in the rear. The interior is also typical Porsche: not lavish, but near faultless in build standard and ergonomic execution.
