This is my arrangement of Pop Star from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards ft. Caitlin Ayala on harp, Warp Whistles Music on clarinet, and Dawn Weygandt on flute. I arranged this track for Welcome Home: A Chamber Tribute to Hometown Themes.

At long last it's finally time for a Kirby 64 cover! When I started producing the chamber hometown album all the way back in January, I told all of the arrangers they could choose a hometown theme or a first level/starting level theme. I noticed there were no Kirby songs on the tracklist so far and I've been wanting to arrange Pop Star for a long time, so I turned it into a hometown theme! You could technically argue that Planet Popstar is Kirby's home in almost every game, plus Pop Star is the first level in Kirby 64, so it totally counts!
Pop Star is originally a fast and fairly busy tune, so I slowed down the tempo and dialed things back a bit to make it feel more like a cozy hometown theme. Some of the finer details that are easy to overlook in the original get to shine in this arrangement. If the instrumentation of this cover feels familiar, that's because it is - it's the exact same as my first cover from this year (Floaroma Town)! I always love getting to collab with Caitlin and donut (the clarinet half of Warp Whistles) and of course I always enjoy bringing my mom on to play flute as well! She even got to show off her Squishmallow collection from her studio this time! :D
