Pong-Tron (ポントロン) is a 1973 discrete logic arcade game produced by Sega. It is a clone of Atari's 1972 game, Pong built specifically for Japanese audiences.
Pong-Tron differs very little from Atari's offering, however this release is significant as it stands as Sega's first arcade game to incorporate a CRT monitor and thus be classed as a "video game". Prior to Pong-Tron's release, Sega had built its successes through electro-mechanical arcade games, pinball tables, slot machines and jukebox distribution.
Pong-Tron followed later in the year by the updated Pong-Tron II (and Hockey TV, another pseudo-Pong clone). The housing was also recycled for Balloon Gun. Sega's main competitor at the time, Taito also released a similar Japanese clone in the form of Elepong, also in 1973.

Killer Shark, Sega, 1972, shark moves around and the player shoots it with a spear gun. It has a series of slides on a wheel that make the shark move and thrash around when shot. Electronic sound and 8-track player. It same game as Sega’s Sea Devil, but Sea Devil had a manta ray instead of a shark.

EVR Race is an arcade videogame developed and manufactured by Nintendo, released in 1975. It was created by Genyo Takeda. It was a video-based race simulation system that utilized electronic video recording (EVR) moving image display technology.
Two versions of EVR Race were made: horse racing and car racing, depending on the tapes loaded into it. Players bet on which racer they thought would win and won if they were correct. Since the video was pre-recorded, there was very little interactivity. Cabinets were available for different numbers of players, from one up to ten.
The game was extremely complicated, so after the release, Nintendo had a hard time maintaining it and there were a lot of breakdowns. Due to their experience with EVR Race, Nintendo learned how difficult it was to maintain arcade games.

In 1976, Atari produced Breakout: a Pong variant in which players bounced a ball off a horizontally-moving paddle against a brick wall at the top of the screen. The object was to destroy as many bricks as possible without allowing the ball to drop past the paddle. The black and white screen was enhanced with colored overlays for the brick rows.
Breakout was the last game designed by Nolan Bushnell for Atari. He gave his design for the game to young Atari technician Steve Jobs. Bushnell promised Jobs a bonus for every chip he was able to eliminate from the game. By minimizing the number of chips in a game, Atari saved money on repairs and production.
Jobs did not have previous video game programming experience, so he enlisted the help of his friend Steve Wozniak, a talented engineer for Hewlett-Packard. In just four days, Wozniak completed the game, reducing the number of chips so much that no one else understood how the game worked. Wozniaks version of Breakout was so minimized, that the Atari manufacturing plant could not replicate it. Atari released a version of the game with more chips instead.
Bushnell awarded Jobs the promised bonus money. Jobs had agreed to evenly split the bonus with Wozniak, but did not give Wozniak the money he deserved. Not until years later- well after the pair had designed Apple II and founded Apple Computers together- did Wozniak discover Jobs deception. The Breakout bonus would become a divisive issue between the two.
Breakout is important not only for its backstory, but for its enormous popularity throughout the decades. Breakout was so popular that the term Breakout Clone is still used to refer to any game with similar mechanics. The game was ported to several game consoles, including the Atari 2600, and inspired sequels such as the Super Breakout arcade game and Breakout 2000 for the Atari Jaguar.

Blockade is the first of what would later become known as light cycle games. Its a game for two players only, each who controls an arrow that leaves behind a trail of blocks that form a wall. The arrow moves automatically forward and by using four buttons the player is able to steer it by making ninety degree turns. The aim of the game is simply to stay alive longer than the opponent by not crashing into any of the walls. If a crash occurs the opponent will win the round and be awarded with one point. By default the player that first reaches six points wins the game but the value can be changed by the game operator.
