Polarization is a common parameter used in Photonics, but what does it have to do with sunglasses?
Compared to unpolarized sunglasses, polarized sunglasses contain polarizing filters that block horizontally polarized light. This feature helps to reduce strongly polarized reflections and glare off horizontal surfaces compared to unpolarized sunglasses.
To test if your sunglasses are polarized, you can rotate them in front of a computer screen and see if the image darkens through the lens when rotating. If they darken, they're polarized!
