I don’t have Pokémon Pokopia, but I heard it’s been getting good reviews and has sold well. Combind with the teaser trailer for Pokémon Winds and Waves, I wonder if this means the game direction and development time and budget have been revamped to be better. Now, I like Sword and Shield, Scarlet and Violent, Legends: Z-A, even Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (having never played Platinum), but I could see the glaring problems they had, much of it feeling like they ran out of time and budget. (See my remark about Scarlet and Violet and Legends: Z-A combined costing less to make than the Super Bowl commercial.)
And if this applies to Pokémon Champions too.

This is one of those “tentpole” teams, where of the three Pokémon selected (or four for double battles), one of them does all the attacking, while all of the others prep the conditions to enable it to fight the entire opposing team on its own. This can be done because of the official games’ pick-3/pick-4 rules, as well as the Restricted Pokémon rules, the former making it far more practical to devote two or three to support instead of five, and the latter because of the large base strength of said Restricted Pokémon (though it was more pronounced when one was allowed rather than two).
In this case, it’s Kyurem. Less than 90 seconds into this video, and they’re down to just Kyurem, but Kyurem was all they needed. I’ve been doing these battles for quite a while, and I have not encountered Kyurem often at all, so I wouldn’t really know how they tick besides that Icicle Spear is commonly seen on them. That is the crucial mistake I made: Gholdengo was there just to use Memento, but me switching out was exactly what they wanted, using Dragon Dance to ensure they can both outrun anything I had and defeat anything I had in one hit—and Icicle Spear is there specifically to negate Focus Sash users. You may have observed Indeedee having Trick Room; had I known they were banking on one free turn, I would’ve used Trick Room instead, which would’ve given me four more turns of going first, perhaps allowing a fighting chance. That being said, I did put it into the red; were it not for the Terastallization, it would’ve certainly been a knockout.
I did mess up with First Impression and Psychic Terrain though—that was a flat out error.
My opponent’s Weezing’s nickname is “トップハム,” or “Topham.” It is likely a pun on “top hat,” as Galarian Weezing appears to be wearing two of them. Gholdengo’s is “キリューイン,” or “Kiryuin,” which is a rare family name; some characters in the anime Kill la Kill have this family name and may tie into their extreme wealth. Kyurem’s is “ジョグレス,” or “Jogless”; I don’t know what that refers to.
