Pokémon Legends: Z-A - To Rank A (Season 7) @Overhazard

Before Season 8 begins (I plan to play in that one; I will describe the details on the rules for that season), here are the matches I played to get to Rank A of Season 7. I used the same team I did to climb up from, Ranks Z through Rank K: Toxtricity, Aurorus, and Staraptor. But because it took me almost 2 hours to finish this due to the high number of points needed to rank up at the end, with 600 total points to go from Rank B to Rank A, this video will have only be the matches in which I ranked up—which is still ten of them, like the previous such videos of mine.

00:03 - Match #1
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Canari
Pay attention to the text boxes on the right, and you’ll see that Aurorus has a Weakness Policy. This comes in handy to get the oomph needed to get knockouts in retaliation, alongside the boost from Meteor Beam (which I hope is kept on Aurorus, the Pokémon desperately needing a specil Rock-type move stronger than Ancient Power). Though Mega Floette was able to shrug off a Freeze-Dry at first, she was later worn down from battling Mega Rayquaza, and was put into knockout range of another Freeze-Dry. (Mega Floette has a Sp. Defense of 148, by the way.)

03:52 - Match #2
Stage: Vert Sector 6
Music: Zygarde (Complete Forme)
These matches were played shortly after the event was made available that gives out Garchompite Z. You may have noticed the presence of Mega Garchomp Z in the previous battle; it had quickly become the single most popular Mega Evolution, and it is a real handful to deal with, considering all three of my opponents were using Garchomp. I expect to see a lot of it in Season 8 too.

07:56 - Match #3
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Legends
Unfortunately, one player got disconnected here, though I’d have no idea how the match would’ve gone if they could stay to the end. It wasn’t until I rewatched this footage that the game does have an animation for when someone gets disconnected: the trainer warps out, as if their Pokémon had been defeated. I could confirm Excadrill and Annihilape. Someone else had both Blastoise and Feraligatr, which is kind of imbalanced, if you ask me.

11:46 - Match #4
Stage: Vert Sector 6
Music: Hyperspace Lumiose Pokémon
If you ever wanted to see what it looks like when two people get disconnected, leaving a 1-on-1 single battle in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, it looks something like this. I have not seen one with three people disconnecting yet though.

15:34 - Match #5
Stage: Quasartico, Inc.
Music: Zygarde (10% Forme)
When we get a match at Quasartico, I check to see what my opponent spawning next to me is using. While I had an advantage against Annihilape, I didn’t appreciate them going after me so I could get targeted by another opponent’s Rayquaza. I did not like that onslaught of Legendary Pokémon either.

19:22 - Match #6
Stage: Quasartico, Inc.
Music: Corbeau
On the other hand, this was my finest match using this team, and I was even able to nab a record 200 points at the end there towards promotion to Rank E. I wonder if this match was memorable to anyone else in the room, as the one where that weirdo turned up with Toxtricity, Aurorus, and Staraptor and managed to score over twice as many points as everyone else combined.

23:14 - Match #7
Stage: Vert Sector 6
Music: Lysandre Labs 2
I forgot if I mentioned it, but I intended for Toxtricity to hold an Air Balloon, but it’s not in Legends: Z-A, so I used a Focus Sash instead. I also like how someone here decided on Wigglytuff. At This high of a rank too. Wigglytuff with Ice Beam is no joke, it seems. Though their second Pokémon is also a rarely-seen Pokémon for me online, Sirfetch’d, their third is Garchomp, meaning there were brief moments where there were three Garchomp on the field together.

27:03 - Match #8
Stage: WIld Zone 3
Music: Mega Darkrai
Mega Meganium looks to be a nice Garchomp counter (I’m strongly considering it for Season 8), though you have to begin with the much less effective regular Meganium until your Mega gauge fills. (Incidentally, the green player’s profile picture shows Hyperspace Desolate Land. The base game might not look that great, but this area looked incredible. I hope it and Hyperspace Primordial Sea turn up in the card game.)

30:53 - Match #9
Stage: Wild Zone 3
Music: Ange Floette
I had a feeling of dread and anxiety when I began this match to see Kyogre on the left and Groudon on the right both undergoing Primal Reversion. I didn’t know until I went online that you can just do so without filling up the Mega Gauge! That feels mega unfair. (Did I knock out that Primal Kyogre with Meteor Beam?)

34:44 - Match #10
Stage: Vert Sector 6
Music: Zygarde (Complete Forme)
I was the last player to start scoring points—and while I don’t like that a player got disconnected in part for it to happen, I did manage to place 2nd overall.
