When will they be adding more settings? I like how Pokémon Battle Revolution had 11 backdrops to fight in, which gave a lot of visual variety. The Pokémon Company does not seem to like to acknowledge what Genius Sonority did though, or maybe it’s because the deadlines have become harsher, but it was fun seeing the intro at the beginnings to Pokémon Champions, showing what the city of Frontier is like outside of Cordy’s Gym and the Battle Arena.

Though it was likely not intentional as the entire team does not have that theme, all of the Pokémon my opponent sent out have a length of 1 meter (3’ 3”) or shorter:
Appletun: 0.4 meters (1’ 4”)
Mimikyu: 0.2 meters (0’ 8”)
Sinistcha: 0.2 meters (0’ 8”)
Mawile: 0.6 meters (2’ 0”), 1.0 meters (3’ 3”) when Mega Evolved
For the record, Raichu is 0.8 meters (2’ 7”) in its base Kantonian form, 1.0 meters (3’ 03”) as Mega Raichu X, and 2.2 meters (3’ 11”) as Mega Raichu Y. Corviknight is a giant by comparison, at 2.2 meters (7’ 3”).
Despite their small size, none of them are to be taken lightly (no pun intended), and this battle went by at a slower pace than it might seem, as Mimikyu can take a first hit without taking damage from Disguise, while the other three are slow and defensive in their stats—nice for Mimikyu to set up Trick Room, which I did not expect.

Opponent’s Pokémon: Gardevoir, Maushold, Talonflame, Basculegion
I keep thinking Maushold has Fake Out—I’m hypervigilant to Pokémon that have it, even those outside of the usual suspects (Incineroar, Sneasel, Tinkaton, Raichu, Blastoise) because you can get people pretty easily with something that knows Fake Out that they don’t expect—my own team has one such Pokémon, Kane (Mr. Rime).
I am also used to seeing Basculegion coming out of the gate swinging, using either Wave Crash or Last Respects, so seeing one use Protect instead threw me for a loop. I usually also expect Tailwind or Brave Bird from Talonflame when Vincenzo (Sceptile) is present, rather than not bothering with a Flying-type move at all and opting for Will-O-Wisp onto Ferdinand (Tauros) instead.
My opponent’s name is Spanish for “devil.”

Opponent’s Pokémon: Sneasler, Metagross, Dragonite, Sinistcha
This team is better prepared for Incineroar than Sneasler because Quick Guard has the same priority class as Fake Out, at +3, but Sneasler is faster than Bjorn (Lycanroc), so it can get out Fake Out before Bjorn (Lycanroc) can use Quick Guard. Kane (Mr. Rime) can’t get out his own Fake Out in time either. Instead, I have to use more complicated means to fight Sneasler.
This time though, it was all for naught because this Sneasler didn’t bother with Fake Out and went straight to Close Combat. A risky decision, if you ask me, because something as frail as Midday Lycanroc has a high chance of holding a Focus Sash, and theirs had a Life Orb (which is itself an unconventional item choise for Sneasler, as Unburden cannot be used with Life Orb—which, in turn, was how I knew I had a way to outrun this one).
Though this match only took a little over 4 minutes of this video, the actual, unedited match was about 9 minutes long. I don’t know if it was a bad connection or my opponent being a thorough thinker, but most turns had them use the full 45 seconds allotted to make one’s decisions, 30 seconds for selecting another Pokémon (including their last Pokémon, Sinistcha).

This is something I’m seeing more people do lately: specifically begin with Excadrill and Tyranitar, then switch out Tyranitar into Staraptor. I take it this is to set up Sandstorm AND Intimidate on the first turn for Excadrill? My go-to strategy for seeing Tyranitar and Excadrill, though, is to go after Excadrill, as I see it as the bigger threat between the two of them.
I also feel like I ought to know about a “Captain Candy” mascot, but I don’t.
